Subgroup Performance on the Statewide Assessments
The main purpose of ESSA is to make sure public schools provide a quality education for all students. This expectation sets the requirement to monitor performance of designated subgroups using the statewide assessments.
Federal and state requirements define the subgroups that are monitored for performance. The following chart shows the designated subgroups and the number of students for each subgroup who participated in the 2018-19 state assessments. The number in each subgroup for the various indicators will vary due to calculation procedures.
ESSA has determined performance levels for the various subgroups. This information is used by the schools when writing their annual school improvement plans.
