English  Learners (EL)
Big Horn County School District #2 identifies and provides services for students for English Language Learners.
Identification Process: Identification is a two-step process
  1. Home Language Survey: When any student enrolls in Big Horn #2, parents are asked to complete a Home Language Survey as part of the registration process.
  2. English Language Proficiency Screener: If the Home Language Survey indicates that a student's language has been influenced by something other than English, the district will administer a screening assessment to determine eligibility for EL services. Parents will be notified by a letter if a student is to be placed for EL services.
EL Services:
  1. Individualized Learning Plan (ILP): All students identified for EL services will have an ILP developed to determine goals, services, and assessment accommodations.
  2. Services: Services will include in-class and/or out-of-class learning interventions as determined by the ILP team.
Our district EL plan has been included below to provide more information on our EL program.
