What is Title I?

  • Title I funds are a federal grant for schools based on free/reduced lunch eligibilities.

  • The goal is to provide additional reading and math support and learning opportunities for students who need it.

  • The program is intended to help all students meet state standards.

What is the Parent Involvement/Engagement Policy?

  • Our schools are committed to involving parents continuously for the planning, reviewing and improving of the Title I programs.

 What is the school-parent compact?

  • The compact is an agreement among the school, parent and student as to the responsibilities of how improvement in student achievement will occur.

 WHY READ 20 MINUTES AT HOME? Student A Reads 20 minutes per day. 3,600 minutes per school year. 1,800,000 words per year. Student B Reads 5 minutes per day. 900 minutes per school year. 282,000 words per year. Student C Reads 1 minute per day 180 minutes per school year. 8,000 words per year. Scores in the 90 percentile on standardized tests. Scores in the 50 percentile on standardized tests. Scores in the 10 percentile on standardized tests. If they start reading for 20 minutes per night in Kindergarten, by the end of 6th grade, Student A will have read for the equivalent of 60 school days, Student B will have read for 12 school days, and Student C will have read for 3.
