Accreditation

Each year, all K-12 Wyoming school districts are required to provide evidence to the Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) and the Wyoming State Board of Education (SBE) demonstrating compliance with 24 primary accreditation criteria and 41 supporting sub-categories in accordance with W.S.21-2-304(a)(ii). The schools governed by each school district are accredited through the district. This process involves the submission of various artifacts and documentation by November 1st annually, as well as an on-site peer review once every five years. The annual review is focused on meeting the requirements of statute, and the external review is focused on evidence-based practices.

In the fall of each year, BGH2 compiles comprehensive evidence, supportive artifacts, and documentation that verify adherence to statute and continuous improvement of district processes (Chapter 6 Rules). Much of the necessary evidence is housed on the district’s website. District documents, online information, and hyperlinks are being updated on an ongoing basis. Following submission, the WDE reviews the materials and issues an accreditation recommendation. This recommendation is then forwarded to the State Board of Education (SBE) for final consideration.

Big Horn County School District #2 and its schools have been granted Accredited Status by the Wyoming State Board of Education.
