English Learners (EL)

Big Horn County School District #2 identifies and provides services for students for English Language Learners.

Identification Process: Identification is a two-step process

  1. Home Language Survey: When any student enrolls in Big Horn #2, parents are asked to complete a Home Language Survey as part of the registration process.

Document titled 'MODEL ARTICLE AND ABSTRACT' with text about language acquisition.

  1. English Language Proficiency Screener: If the Home Language Survey indicates that a student's language has been influenced by something other than English, the district will administer a screening assessment to determine eligibility for EL services. Parents will be notified by a letter if a student is to be placed in EL services.
